Spring Term!

So I'm back from an amazing, relaxing spring break with the ultimate team and ready to start up bike and build again. Its going to be really warm this weekend, so hopefully people are out and ready to buy grilled cheese. We'll be selling Saturday night hopefully.

Also, thank you SOOO much to Alena Goeddel!

Thanks, also, to Wheelock Books in Hanover. And thanks, Maddy, for spending your 3 days between finals and rugby break doing bike and build stuff!

Safety Quiz!

I just completed my Bike & Build safety quiz! Which may be the only test I actually pass this week...just kidding (I hope). That means I can finally get a bike. Exciting!

Bagels and Pizza

Thank you Hanover businesses Bagel Basement, Ramuntos, and C & A's Pizza for your donations yesterday! We received TONS of bagels from Bagel Basement, and pizza from our local pizza places. EBA's Pizza also contributed a gift card. Selling food in the library during finals is a pretty sure-fire way to make some money...although we had lots of competition from the other FOUR bake sales going on last night.

THANK YOU!

I would like to thank everyone who has donated to bike & build under my name! Its really exciting that so many people support me and this cause. I really appreciate everything.

Bike & Build Update

Hey,
Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Life has been crazy. I'm playing ultimate here at dartmouth and working at a bio lab. That, and my general chem class is taking over my life. But here is a quick update on Bike & Build. I have been fundraising a lot in the last couple of weeks on campus. My awesome friend and floor mate, Maddy Sturm, is going on the same b&b trips as I am, which i'm really excited about! I don't think I could get through all of these fundraisers without her. She is also a lot better about updating her bike & build blog (you can check it out here; its pretty great). Here is what we have accomplished so far this term:

-COSO: we got in touch with current bike & build riders and alums at dartmouth, and started an official COSO (council on student organizations) group to better organize fundraising and training rides, etc.. This means we have more resources and publicity on campus.

-First fundraiser: we sold t-shirts and tennis balls at the princeton hockey game. Its a tradition here to throw tennis balls at the ice when we score our first goal, so TONS of people bought tennis balls. We also made spray-pained anti-princeton shirts, which sold really well.

-Video Games: We set up video games in the tv lounge and took donations for games and baked goods. THANKS SO MUCH to everyone who let us borrow video games/equipment.

-Coffee: The Dirt Cowboy, a local cafe, has donated 200 cups worth of coffee to our cause, so we sold that, along with baked goods, in the library. We have lots left over, so we can keep selling during finals.

-Grilled Cheese: Last weekend was amazingly warm, so we could sell grilled cheese outside of frats friday night. Grilled cheese is always a hit, so we will definitely be selling more soon.

So its been a pretty productive term. Maddy and I have gotten a lot more efficient, and we are figuring out what works. We just need to keep it up! Thanks again to everyone supporting me!!!
